Fabric Care

All of The Cotton Villa products are handcrafted using the finest natural fibres. The subtle variations in colour, texture and finish are the signature of the human hand. Creating each product is a lengthy process rooted in the craft-based traditions of hand spinning, dying, weaving, and own regional speciality and character. We use both vegetable and commercial dyes to minimize our environmental impact while striving for the best colour properties. For our bleaching process, we use only hydrogen peroxide, which is totally biodegradable.

Fabric Care - Cotton

Our hand-spun and hand-woven cotton fabric has the added value of allowing more air penetration and is, therefore, more relaxed, softer, more absorbent and breathes better than any highly uniform, compacted machine-made cotton fabric. This added breathability means you will stay more relaxed in the summer and warmer in the winter. The hand-woven cotton fabric also has a textural beauty and visible character, which is not present in machine-made fabric. Cotton is a robust fibre, even when wet, so it holds very well to repeated laundering. Our dyes are natural and may change colour after a few regular washes.

Laundry

Hand wash with cold water.
Wash items with like colours and turn your clothes inside out, incredibly dark colours.
Some colours may require to be washed the first few times separately.
Keep your zippers and hooks closed to avoid snagging other items in the wash.
Avoid using bleach.
Air drying is advisable. Hang the garments for drying, preferably when still damp.

Shrinkage

During the dyeing and printing, the yarn and the fabric are repeatedly washed. This helps ensure full dye penetration, removes any residual surface dye and reduces shrinkage in the final tailored product. Depending on how you care for the product, additional shrinkage ranges from 0.5%-1% for printed fabrics and 1%-1.5% for woven products.

Ironing

Press with a warm to hot iron while damp. Use a spray bottle to dampen the fabric if the item has dried.

Fabric Care - Linen and Linen-Cotton

The Cotton Villa uses several varieties of Linen, such as 60’s Lee and 80’s Lee & 100’s Lee and Linen Cotton, which are indigenous to India and processed and spun by hand without harsh chemicals. Linen & Linen-Cotton considered a noble fabric symbolizing light and purity, Linen was an investment. One of the most substantial textiles, it withstood the test of time and is synonymous with high-end fashion in modern times. Laundry

Dry clean only.
Ironing
Use a steam iron or a warm iron if required.

Fabric Care –Wool Fabric

Most of the wool The Cotton Villa uses is from local sources, and the fibres are hand spun, creating a beautifully soft, textural character. Hand-spun wool varies in thickness which causes the dye to penetrate the yarn at different rates. This creates beautiful natural shading which machine processes have attempted to imitate. However, the subtle variations in texture colour and weave of hand-spun and hand-woven wool fabrics are easily identifiable. Even those who don’t know why it is different will recognize something special and unique about this fabric.

Laundry
Dry clean only.
Once the garment is dry cleaned, do not store the item in a plastic bag because wool needs to breathe.
Ironing
You can also try hanging the item in the steam from a hot shower.

the T shirts are good quality, the cotton is soft, the colours are rich. one should be careful while ordering the right size. though, on their website, they mentioned in the size guide that they have XXL, they actually have only till XL. they need to correct it.
